Summary: | The present invention relates a novel compound, chrysogenazine containing both indole and diketopiperazine ring systems, isolated from the chloroform fraction of the fermentation broth of Penicillium chrysogenum and the gross structure of the compound was elucidated by a detailed analysis of spectroscopic data (IR, NMR, MS), in addition, this invention also assesses the biological activity of the compound which reveals its antibacterial activity against the human pathogen, Vibrio cholerae, demonstrated by the disc diffusion assay. |
