Summary:When there travels a vehicle equipped with a steering apparatus with a heavy constant velocity universal joint (4), e.g. double Cardan joint or Rzeppa joint, vibrations of the wheels and the vehicle body cause the joint to vibrate. A vibratory moment applied to the pinion shaft (5) caused by the vibration provokes undesirable engagement of the pinion (54) and the steering rack (61). A steering apparatus of the present invention is provided with an elastic coupling (7) between the joint and the pinion so as to prevent the vibration from being transferred and absorb the vibration.
