Summary: | The invention relates to immunogenic constructs that in principle comprise two different domains of the transmembrane envelope protein of enveloped viruses including retroviruses including HIV, a pharmaceutical agent for inducing humoral neutralizing immune responses to viral infections and to a kit for the detection of antibodies and viral antigens. The invention also relates to a method for inducing an antibody response and to a method for the passive immunization of an organism using neutralizing antibodies that were obtained using the above-mentioned immunogenic constructs. Finally, the invention relates to a bioassay for detecting viral infection and for detecting the production of neutralizing antibodies. |
