Summary:The process consists of applying layer (4) of electrically conducting material to inner surface of mold so that it partially covers a blind hole in a mold section that forms a reinforcing rib (6) in finished component. An aperture(s) is made in foil layer in line with blind hole, so that when molten plastic is injected into mold it covers foil layer and passes through aperture(s) to form the rib without interrupting continuity of foil inside component. The process consists of applying a layer (4) of an electrically conducting material such as aluminium foil to the inner surface of a mold so that it at least partially covers a blind hole in a mold section that forms a reinforcing rib (6) in the finished component. At least one aperture is made in the foil layer in line with the blind hole, so that when molten plastic is injected into the mold it covers the foil layer and passes through the aperture(s) in it to form the rib without interrupting the continuity of the foil inside the component. Each aperture in the foil is at least 10 sq mm in area, and the molten plastic is injected at a point close to the position of the rib. The process also includes a mold compression stage.
