Summary:A centrifugal gas/liquid separator 20 for location in a liquid reservoir (22, Fig. 4) comprises a generally cylindrical wall 26 defining a separation chamber 28 having a closed end 30, an open end 32, an inlet 34 in the cylindrical wall 26 for supplying a gas/liquid mixture into the separation chamber 28, and a gas outlet 38 located externally of the separation chamber 28 for discharging gases from the separator 20. The separator 20 defines at least one liquid flow path 46a-d, 47 for conveying separated liquid from the open end 32 of the separation chamber 28 into a reservoir (22, Fig. 4), and at least one gas flow path 60 for conveying separated gases from a radially inner region 49 of the open end 32 of the separation chamber 28, externally of the separation chamber 28, to the gas outlet 38. The separator 20 is particularly suitable for separating air/oil mixtures in an oil system of a gas turbine engine.
