Summary:A data reproducing apparatus for a non-tracking reproduction system includes an identifying means for reserving a predetermined number of tracks to serve as an editing unit, a part of the rear side of the tracks being set to a pre-writing priority area and the remaining parts of the tracks are set to a post-writing priority area. A recording block reproduced from the pre-writing priority area is error-corrected by C1 error correction. A control means determines whether or not data reproduced from a recording block with the same ID as that of a recording block already written in the memory is determined, and if the reproduced data was not yet written into memory, the data is written into the memory, and otherwise the reproduced data of the recording block is inhibited from being written in the memory.
