Summary:In a calendar (1) process to glaze a moving web (23) of paper, a coating (e.g. printed legend or image) is applied to the web that proceeds through three or more pressure nip gaps (14-22). Between the nips the web is supported by feed rollers (28-35). The web is top-moistened prior to passing over one or more feed rollers (29, 32, 34). The moisture is applied as steam to a web of paper or carton at least 0.1 seconds prior to passing between hard and heated nip rollers. An independent claim is also included for a commensurate calendar assembly. Es wird ein Verfahren zum Satinieren einer Bahn (23) aus Papier oder Karton und ein Kalander (1) angegeben, bei dem man einen Strich auf die Bahn (23) aufträgt, die Bahn durch mindestens drei Nips (14-22) eines Mehrwalzenkalanders (1) führt, die Bahn (23) in den Nips (14-22) mit erhöhtem Druck beaufschlagt und zwischen den Nips (14-22) über Leitwalzen (28-35) führt. Man möchte die Oberflächeneigenschaften von gestrichenen Papier- und Kartonbahnen weiter verbessern. Hierzu befeuchtet man die Bahn (23), bevor sie über eine einem Nip (16, 19, 21) in Laufrichtung (36) vorgeschaltete Leitwalze (29, 32, 34) läuft, auf der der Leitwalze (29, 32, 34) abgewandten Seite.
