Summary:Embodiments of the invention relate to a system (100) and method for controlling access to data held on a client device (120). When the client device (120) is compromised a server system (110) sends a command to the client device (120) to control access to data held on the client device (120); for example, the client device (120) may delete data stored thereon in response to receipt of the command from the server system (110). This enables unauthorised access to data stored on a lost or stolen device to be prevented.
