Summary:The insulator has an insulated sheet (1) made up of dielectric material with a lower part having a steel rod (3) fixed by a binder (4) with cement base, and a zinc ring (5) in contact with the binder and surrounding the rod. An annular plug (7) made up of an electrically conducting material is arranged between the insulated sheet and the ring in such a manner to make a sealing for preventing a leakage current path in the binder. An independent claim is also included for a method of fabricating a suspension insulator. L'isolateur de suspension comprend une jupe isolante (1) en verre trempé ou en porcelaine ayant une partie inférieure dans laquelle est fixée une tige (3) par un liant (4) à base de ciment, une bague sacrificielle en zinc (5) en contact avec le liant et entourant la tige, et un bouchon annulaire en matériau conducteur électriquement (7) disposé entre la jupe isolante et la bague sacrificielle, de telle manière à réaliser une étanchéité empêchant le cheminement de courants de fuite dans le liant. Ce bouchon permet d'éviter les problèmes de corrosion de la tige et les risques d'explosion de l'isolateur.
