Summary:Dielectrophoresis cell comprising at least two electrodes and a liquid dielectric is used to separate metallic and semiconductor carbon nanotubes. An independent claim is also included for separating metallic and semiconductor carbon nanotubes by suspending the nanotubes in a liquid whose dielectric constant is between that of the metallic nanotubes and that of the semiconductor nanotubes and applying an inhomogeneous alternating electric field to the suspension.
