Summary: | Using an avian cell (A) for producing an exogenous protein (I) in a bird, is new. (A) is transformed with an expression vector containing the gene (II) that encodes (I) and this is introduced into the subgerminal cavity of the embryo or into the embryonal blood circulation, or serves as a source of nucleus for transfer into an oocyte, optionally one that has been enucleated or in which chromosomes have been destroyed, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) preparing modified avian cells; (2) producing a bird able to express (I); (3) producing (I) from the cells of (1) or birds of (2); and (4) birds produced by method (2), and their eggs. |
