Summary:The cage (1) has an anterior wall having a convex horizontal cross section such that the maximum height of the middle portion is greater than the maximum height of the lateral end portions. End walls (31) are provided between the anterior wall and a posterior wall (21). An upper bearing surface (71) between the anterior and posterior walls has a posterior portion (75) having at least one upper opening adapted to promote bone fusion. A lower bearing surface between the anterior and posterior walls has a posterior portion having at least one lower opening adapted to promote bone fusion. The upper and lower openings are in communication to promote bone fusion. The posterior portion of each bearing surface is adapted to bear against the anterior half of the disc space.
