The invention relates to a multilayer evacuated blood collection tube (10) comprising: a bottom wall (12), a top edge (16), and a sidewall (14) between the bottom wall (12) and the top edge (16) comprising co-injected inner and outer polymeric skin layers and a polymeric core layer, wherein the core layer is located between and directly adjacent the inner and outer polymeric skin layers, with the polymeric skin layers being non-compatible with the polymeric core layer, wherein the inner and outer polymeric skin layers encapsulate the core layer and the top edge has a cross-section of only the inner and outer skin layers to physically restrain the core layer from delamination from the inner and outer skin layers.
