Summary:The exchange of the fuel/air mixture is controlled so that the mixture is enclosed at the start of the sliding operating phase (deceleration phase) in the combustion chamber (12) and the mixture is then ignited at the end of this phase. The exchange of the filling of the combustion chamber is controlled through at least one inlet and one outlet valve. At the start of the sliding operating phase the combustion chamber is filled through the opened inlet valve and the inlet and outlet valves are then held in the closed state.
