Summary:Processing shredder residues of metal-containing waste comprises separating the shredder residue into a shredder light fraction and a non-ferromagnetic fraction (heavy fraction); and producing a raw sand fraction during the processing of the shredder light fraction and the heavy fraction in pre-processes. The process further comprises separation of a ferromagnetic fraction, a non-ferrous fraction, a lint fraction and a granulate fraction; and separating out the raw sand fraction in a refining process into an organic residue fraction, a heavy metal dust fraction, a sand fraction free from organic materials and metal, and a metal fraction by density separation and metal isolation. An independent claim is also included for a device for processing shredder residues of metal-containing waste. The shredder light fraction is additionally pre-treated using a magnetic separator to remove ferromagnetic residual fractions.
