Summary:The invention relates to an envrironmentally friendly, liquid soap based pesticidal composition having improved efficacy against aphids and other insect pests. The pesticide also has insect repellent properties. The composition comprises an insectividal soap (alkali metal salt of a fatty acid) and a fragrance, preferably derived from a terpenoid natural oil such as limonene, linalool, eugenol or geraniol and/or a particulate physically active insectidal material, preferably abrasives having a Mohs hardness of less than about 7 such as diatomaceous earth. Further (optional) ingredients comprise evaporation retardants such as humectants or thickeners and perfume auxiliaries.
