Summary:Systems and methods particularly suitable for open hole formation testing are provided. A method (10) of performing a test on a formation (66) intersected by a wellbore (14) includes the steps of flowing fluid into an apparatus (12) from the formation (66), displacing a fluid barrier (62) of the apparatus (12) in one direction, flowing the formation fluid out of the apparatus (12) and back into the formation (66) by applying pressure to the apparatus (12), and displacing the fluid barrier (62) in an opposite direction.
