Summary:Electronic radiation is emitted (1,2,3,4) at at least two carrier wavelengths, and received (7,8,9). A first semiconductor laser (2) emits a first carrier wavelength in the infrared or red wavelength range. A second semiconductor laser (3) emits a second carrier wavelength in the violet wavelength range. The propagation time of the two different carrier wavelengths along a transmission path is measured (10). The dispersive influence on the measurement is calculated (11) from the two measured propagation times. Independent claims are also included for: (a) the use of the device to correct distance measurements (b) a geodetic measuring device, in particular a theodolite
