Summary: | A header (30) for a heat exchanger (10) having a plurality of parallel hollow tubes (26) mounted between a pair of flat mounting plates (28) and defining a plurality of passages through the plates. The header (30) comprises a tubular elongated body portion (36) having an outer surface (38) and an interior cavity (40). The body portion (36) is provided with a plurality of parallel, hollow ports (72-88) projecting from the outer surface (38) to provide fluid communication between the passages and the interior cavity (40). The ports (72-88) space the header (30) from the plate (28) so that the header body (30) remains relatively cool. This permits the header (30) to be made from a plastic material. |
