Species specific detection of nucleic acids using an analysing element

Detecting nucleic acid (I) on an analytical element (AE) that comprises a sample application zone (AZ) and a detection zone (DZ), and allows liquid transport between AZ and DZ, involves applying (I)-containing sample to AZ and detecting (I) in DZ by hybridization with a detectable probe (II). The ne...

Summary:Detecting nucleic acid (I) on an analytical element (AE) that comprises a sample application zone (AZ) and a detection zone (DZ), and allows liquid transport between AZ and DZ, involves applying (I)-containing sample to AZ and detecting (I) in DZ by hybridization with a detectable probe (II). The new feature is that (I) is denatured on AE. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) AE that is impregnated with a denaturing agent (III) for (I); and (2) a kit for detecting (I) comprising an AE and other reagents for detection.
