Summary:A bobbin changing arrangement on a winder has a suction nozzle (37) placed behind the driven bobbin (13) and a guide groove on the surface drive roll (29) or on the bobbin (13). At changeover the yarn runs into the suction nozzle (37) and the traverse guide (6) places it between the surface drive roll (29) and the bobbin (13) in the guide groove (48). Independent claims are included for the following: (a) a bobbin changing process where the yarn is placed in the suction nozzle and cut, then allowed to run through the guide groove (48) till the new bobbin has accelerated sufficiently to commence winding; (b) a false twist texturing machine with a bobbin winding arrangement incorporating a guide groove (48) in the surface driv roll (29).
