Summary: | Enzymes involved in purine biosynthesis in Ashbya gossypii are new. hosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetases (KPR1 and 2) comprising 318 or 320 amino acid residues, glutamine-phosphororibosylpyrophosphate amidotransferase (ADE4) comprising 510 amino acid residues, IMP-dehydrogenase (GUA1) comprising 151 or 371 amino acid residues, and a GMP-synthetase (GUA2) comprising 525 amino acid residues or polypeptides with substitution, insertion or deletion of 10-20 % of the amino acid sequence, and the activity of the relative enzyme are new (all sequences fully defined in the specification). Independent claims are also included for: (1) nucleic acid sequences encoding the above enzymes; and (2) the production riboflavin comprising cultivation of a microorganism genetically modified with at least one gene for purine biosynthesis. |
