Process for the preparation of highly pure N-formyl-leucin

A process for obtaining N-formyl-leucine comprises reacting leucine with formamide in a one step method comprising precipitating the N-formyl-leucine at 0-40 degrees C and mixing the reaction medium with water and acid until the pH is adjusted to 2-3.
