Summary:The method involves replacing lost, faulty or late-received segments or packets and optionally estimating lost, faulty or late-received segments or packets according to known substitution techniques, whereby the possibility of detecting a segment or packet is guaranteed. Immediately after receiving a packet, the signal frame of the packet yet to be received is estimated based on the previously received, decoded PCM signal. The estimated signal frame is immediately used to replace a segment or entire packet if a fault is suspected or detected.
