Summary:A heavy duty radial tyre has an aspect ratio of not more than 80 % and comprises a radial carcass (6); a belt (7) comprising a first ply (7A), a second ply (7B) and a third ply (7C) disposed in this order from the radially inside to the outside; the second ply (7B) being widest and the axial width BW thereof being in the range of from 1.00 to 2.00 times the section height H of the tyre; a first rubber thickness dl measured from the first belt ply's edge to the carcass (6) being in the range of from 1.0 to 5.0mm; a second rubber thickness d2 measured from the third belt ply's edge to the second belt ply (7B) being more than the first rubber thickness d1; an axial distance W1 of the first belt ply's edge from the second belt ply's edge and an axial distance W2 of the third belt ply's edge from the second belt ply's edge satisfying the following condition: 0 <= W1-W2 <= 5.0 mm; a cushion rubber (G1) disposed between the first belt ply (7A) and the carcass (6) so as to provide the above-mentioned first rubber thickness d1, the cushion rubber (G1) tapering axially inwardly so as to have an axially inner end (P) at an axial distance W0 of 10.0 to 25.0 mm from the axially outer end of the first belt ply (7A).
