Summary:Spatial location of an object (1), which has identifying luminescent marks (3), by determination of trace positions of the marks on an image taken with a camera (4), such as a video camera. The mark positions are then determined with respect to the capture device, by use of the trace positions on the images. Optimisation of the trace positions is obtained in a step which models the traces as predetermined geometric functions and calculates the positions using the function that most closely models with the traces. The best agreement is determined by minimisation of the luminescent intensity between trace and geometric function on an image containing both. The geometric function is a Gaussian intensity function with variable parameters.
