Process for preparing di-esters of higher alpha, omega-dicarboxylic acids

Preparation of higher alpha , omega -dicarboxylic acid esters (I) comprises: (a) continuously feeding an 8-20 ring membered cycloaliphatic ketone (II), at least an equimolar amount of a carbonic acid diester (III) and a catalytic amount of a strong base to a reaction zone, in which condensation of (...

Summary:Preparation of higher alpha , omega -dicarboxylic acid esters (I) comprises: (a) continuously feeding an 8-20 ring membered cycloaliphatic ketone (II), at least an equimolar amount of a carbonic acid diester (III) and a catalytic amount of a strong base to a reaction zone, in which condensation of (II) and (III) to the corresponding cyclic beta -ketoacid ester enolate and ring cleavage to (I) by the released alcohol take place, and (b) continuously withdrawing the reaction mixture.
