Summary: | A method is disclosed for adhesion improvement of a room temperature vulcanizable (RTV) silicone composition to substrates. This is accomplished by adding a monoketoester, such as ethylacetoacetate, to an RTV silicone composition which is comprised of an alkoxy ended polydiorganosiloxane, a crosslinker having silicon-bonded methoxy or ethoxy group, a filler and a titanate catalyst. Then by applying this composition to a substrate to form intimate contact between the substrate and uncured composition. Thereafter, the composition is exposed to atmospheric moisture for a sufficient time to obtain a cured material. When tested, the bond between the cured material and the substrate surprisingly exhibits cohesive failure. |
