Summary:The device comprises a ball neck (10) with a coupling ball (20) on the first trailer-side end of the neck and a fixture device held on the vehicle at the second end of the neck. The ball neck and the coupling ball are of aluminium or one of its alloys. The ball is of one-piece construction with the neck. The coupling ball is provided with a surface coating, which is of harder material than the light metal of a body of the coupling ball. The coupling ball has a steel cover which is engaged like a cap over an extension of the ball neck. The extension is formed in one-piece on the trailer-side first end (12) of the ball neck. The coupling ball has an extension, which is connected with the ball neck by being forged on to it. The ball neck is provided on both sides with longitudinal ribs.
