Summary:Claimed is the use of a hydraulic-setting finely-divided two-component binder having a cement-based rapid binder component and a slowly reacting component which is a latent hydraulic material based on ground smelter sand and/or flyash and/or a pozzolanic material based on trass, pumice, siliceous earth, aluminosilicates, brick dust and/or finely divided silicon dioxide (optionally in amorphous form), the binder being free of residues from wet flue gas desulphurisation. The binder is used for immobilising pollutants, contained in filter dust from domestic waste incineration, by water addition to the binder and dust mixture in a water/solids ratio of 0.33-0.35, with the provisos that (a) the filter dust has a max. sulphate content of 10 wt.% and (b) the wet mixture sets to a solid product having a volume stability (on storing in water) corresponding to a length change of below 2 mm./m. after 90 days in volume stability tests according to DIN 52 450.
