Summary:The invention relates to a transducer element for transforming mechanical energy to electrical energy or vice versa. The element comprises an elongated thin strip or ribbon of a magneto-elastical or piezo-electrical material. According to the invention the element has a cross-sectional shape deviating from a planar cross-sectional shape, and the cross section may for instance form a portion of a circle, have an angular or right-angled shape, or an L-, U-, T-, or S-shape. According to one embodiment the element is constituted by a thin strip or ribbon of an amorphous magneto-elastical material with a high magneto-mechanical coupling.
