Peroxycarboxylic ester initiators derived from nitrogen heterocycles
A peroxycarboxylic ester photoinitiator has the formula R1-C(C=O)-O-O-R2 (I); R1 = alkyl; and R2 = an aromatic heterocyclic gp. contg. a first sp2 hybridised N-atom having 3 valence bonds comprising a single and a double bond forming art of the ring and one or more additional components selected fro...

Summary: | A peroxycarboxylic ester photoinitiator has the formula R1-C(C=O)-O-O-R2 (I); R1 = alkyl; and R2 = an aromatic heterocyclic gp. contg. a first sp2 hybridised N-atom having 3 valence bonds comprising a single and a double bond forming art of the ring and one or more additional components selected from: (i) an additional sp2 hybridised N-atom having 3 valence bonds comprising a single and a double bond in conjugation with the first sp2 hybridised N-atom; (ii) an alkyl peroxycarboxylic ester gp.; and (iii) an electron-withdrawing gp. of Hammett sigma value greater than 0.1. Also claimed is a peroxycarboxylic ester photoinitiator of formula (I) in which R2 comprises an aromatic heterocyclic ring as above selected from pyrazine, pyrimidine, pyradazine, triazine, imidazole, furazan, oxazole and thiazole, to which is fused at least one aromatic structure. |
