Summary: | The proposed article, consisting of a porous carbonaceous material (fig.1), is produced by extruding a soft carbonaceous paste through a die, the paste consisting of 30-60% dispersed carbon, a solvent and 2-10 % of a carbon-containing binder. Extrusion takes place at a pressure of 20-60 kg/cm and the article thus formed is then heat treated, firstly, in a non-oxidizing environment in the presence of hydrocarbons, the ratio of carbon and hydrogen being 0.25-1.0, until the mass of the article has increased by 20-200%, and subsequently in an active environment. According to the invention, the article is produced from three-dimensionally homogeneous carbon with a mesoporous structure and pore-size distributions in the 100-2,000 ANGSTROM and 20-100 ANGSTROM ranges. For each article, the ratio of the outer surface geometry to the volume of material is 4-100 m-1, the ratio of the thickness of the dividing walls between the channels and the outer walls is 1:2- 1:10, and the unit surface area is 100-2,000 m2/g. |
