Summary: | The present invention relates to novel cross-linking agents of the type (I), wherein X has the meaning of (a), (b), (c), (d), which rings (a) to (d) can carry 1 to n substituents, wherein n equals the number of protonated carbon atoms in the ring, the substituents being selected from the group consisting of -OH, -SH, -CN, -C(O)NH2, C1-C3-alkyl and hydroxy-C1-C3-alkyl, or in the rings (a) to (c), one or more of the -CH2-ring members can be replaced by a carbonyl group -C(O)-, and R is selected from the group consisting of C1-C3-alkyl or hydroxy, and use thereof for the preparation of polymers in water or in organic solvents. The high water solubility of the cross-linking agents compared to other cross-linking agents, makes them suitable for the preparation of strongly cross-linked water compatible polymers, usable as a chromatographic separation material for the separation of amino acid enantiomers, peptides, proteins and viruses. The novel cross-linking agent is e.g. synthesized in two steps by acylating the imino functions in the heterocyclic starting compound in two steps. |
