Medical pressure sensitive adhesive tape

An adhesive tape has a water-soluble adhesive compsn. contg. (i) 30-65 wt.% of a water-soluble polymer prepd. from (a) 60-90 wt.% of a mono-unsatd. vinylcarboxylic acid, (b) 10-40% of a 4-12C alkyl (meth)acrylate, (c) 0-10% of a (meth)acrylamide deriv., (ii) 10-50% of a water-soluble polyoxyalkylene...

Summary:An adhesive tape has a water-soluble adhesive compsn. contg. (i) 30-65 wt.% of a water-soluble polymer prepd. from (a) 60-90 wt.% of a mono-unsatd. vinylcarboxylic acid, (b) 10-40% of a 4-12C alkyl (meth)acrylate, (c) 0-10% of a (meth)acrylamide deriv., (ii) 10-50% of a water-soluble polyoxyalkylene or deriv., (iii) 10-40% of a poly-functional alcohol, (iv) 3-25% of a plasticising resin, and (v) 0.1-5% of a crosslinking agent, and a water-soluble or -dispersible support. Pref. the acid is (meth)acrylic, beta-acryloyloxypropionic, vinylacetic, fumaric, crotonic, aconitic, dimethylacrylic, trichloroacrylic or itaconic acid. The ester is butyl, pentyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, 2-ethylhexyl, isooctyl, 2-methylheptyl, nonyl, decyl or dodecyl (meth)acrylate. The cpd. has mol. wt. below 3000, and is polyethylene glycol or its mono(m)ethyl ether or di(m)ethyl ether, polypropylene glycol, polybutylene glycol, or their copolymers. The polyalcohol is glycerol, ethylene glycol, propanediol-1,2 or -1,3 or butane diol-1,2, -1,3, or 1,4. The resin is a (partly) hydrogenated abietic acid deriv. The crosslinker is a metal chelate, an ester of a metal acid, or an epoxide-, aziridin-, triazine- or melamine-HCHO resin. The water-solubility of the adhesive compsn. rises strongly at pH above 8 and temp. above 65 degrees C. The support is a water-soluble or -redispersible paper, fleece or film, esp. a polyvinyl, polyethylene oxide, gelatine, starch or methyl-cellulose film.
