Summary: | The preparation of polyethylene and ethylene-1-olefin copolymers in suspension or gas-phase processes with the aid of metallocene/aluminoxane catalysts whose metallocene component is a bridged biscyclopentadienyl complex has particular advantages. The use of these complexes gives, with high activity, products in a very broad molecular weight range, depending on the complex structure, and allows the products to be produced in very different particle morphologies, such as high and low bulk density, extremely small and extremely large mean particle diameters and different particle shapes. The variety of achievable particle morphologies opens up a variety of applications of such polyethylene powders in sintering processes. |
