Summary:Claimed are processes for the single reactor prepn. of: (A) a diorganohaloborane of formula (I): comprising reacting a first reactant R selected from an olefin and an alkyne, a second reactant R2 from an olefin and an alkyne, diborane, and boron trihalide of formula FX3; X = F, Cl, Br or I; the mole ratio of BX3:diborane being 1:1.5-1.5:1; R2, R3 = an alkyl gp. corresponding to R or R1, respectively, when R or R1 is an olefin; or an alkenyl gp. when R or R1 is an alkyne; (B) an organohaloborane of formula (II): comprising reacting R, diborane, and BX3, the mole ratio of BX3:diborane being 3-5:1; (C) an alkoxydiorganoborane of formula (III): comprising reacting R, R1, diborane, and an alkyl borate of formula B(OR10)3; R10 = alkyl; the molar ratio of B(OR10)3:diborane being 1:1.5-1.5:1; and (D) a dialkoxyorganoborane of formula (IV): comprising reacting R, diborane, and B(OR10)3, the mole ratio of B(OR10)3:diborane being 3-5:1.
