Summary: | The refuse treatment process involves burning some refuse in a smouldering drum (10), producing smoulder gas and smouldering residue. A carbon-rich fraction is separated from the smouldering residue. At least part of this is intended as fuel for a support flame to burn another part of the refuse. This combustion takes place in a revolving tubular furnace (2). The smoulder gas and the carbon-rich fraction of the residue not needed for the support flame can be burnt in a post-combustion chamber (3) of the furnace. A quite small tubular furnace will suffice. No external energy is required to heat it. |
