Process for the preparation of modified polybutylene terephthalate resin
The present invention provides a process for the preparation of a polyester from an acid component comprising terephthalic acid or a lower alcohol ester thereof as a main component and a diol component comprising 1,4-butanediol as a main component, wherein 0.001 to 0.5 mol % (based on the acid compo...

Summary: | The present invention provides a process for the preparation of a polyester from an acid component comprising terephthalic acid or a lower alcohol ester thereof as a main component and a diol component comprising 1,4-butanediol as a main component, wherein 0.001 to 0.5 mol % (based on the acid component) of a specific aromatic sulfonic acid compound is dissolved in the diol component or a mixture of the diol component with the acid component and thereafter a catalyst is added to the resulting reaction system to conduct esterification (or transesterification) and polycondensation successively, for the purpose of providing a modified polybutylene terephthalate resin which little generates gas such as tetrahydrofuran even in high-temperature service and little gives sublimate in melting. |
