Summary:An electrical feedthrough is formed of a first layer of an electrically insulating material, an electrically conductive trace overlying the first layer, and a second layer of an electrically insulating material overlying the first layer and the electrically conductive trace, such that the electrically conductive trace is sandwiched between the first layer and the second layer. The insulating materials are preferably ceramics that are co-fired with the electrically conductive trace during the manufacture of the feedthrough. The feedthrough is utilized by joining it to an aperture through the wall of an apparatus. In one form, the feedthrough itself is hermetic and can be joined to the wall with a hermetic seal.
