A digital recording and/or reproducing apparatus using a recording medium (1), including a first interface circuit (32) for inputting and outputting digital audio data, a second interface circuit (35) for inputting and outputting general digital data excluding the digital audio data, an input connector (31) for inputting the digital audio data and the general digital data, an output connector (34) for outputting the digital audio data and the general digital data, and a recording and/or reproducing device (3,4) for recording and/or reproducing the digital audio data and the general digital data. In recording the digital audio data, the digital audio data input from the input connector (31) is supplied to the first interface circuit (32), and the digital audio data output from the first interface circuit (32) is supplied to the recording and/or reproducing device (3,4) and recorded onto the recording medium (1) by the recording and/or reproducing device (3,4). In reproducing the digital audio data, the digital audio data is reproduced from the recording medium (1) by the recording and/or reproducing device (3,4), and the digital audio data reproduced is supplied to the first interface circuit and output from the output connector (34). In recording the general digital data, the general digital data input from the input connector (31) is supplied to the second interface circuit (35), and the general digital data output from the second interface circuit (35) is supplied to the recording and/or reproducing device and recorded onto the recording medium (1) by the recording and/or reproducing device (3,4). In reproducing the general digital data, the general digital data is reproduced from the recording medium (1) by the recording and/or reproducing device (3,4), and the general digital data reproduced is supplied to the second interface circuit (35) and output from the output connector (34).
