Summary:The invention relates to an apparatus for preparing sets of documents, comprising a conveying means (2), a shunting station (4), a folding station (5) and a control. According to the invention the apparatus comprises scanning means (8,9,10) for determining the length of the documents or for determining the interspace between the successive document sets. The control increases the cycle speed of the apparatus, such that the documents are fed to the folding station without colliding with each other and with a minimum of interspace. A method for the control of the apparatus according to the invention is also described.
