AQUEOUS SLUDGES OF FINELY-GROUND FILLERS AND THEIR USE FOR PRODUCING FILLER-CONTAINING PAPER

Aqueous sludges of finely-ground fillers that are at least partially coated with polymers are produced by successively adding to an aqueous filler sludge 0.1 to 5 wt % of a cationic paper consolidating agent, 0.1 to 5 wt % of a non-ionic and/or anionic paper consolidating and/or sizing agent, with r...

Summary:Aqueous sludges of finely-ground fillers that are at least partially coated with polymers are produced by successively adding to an aqueous filler sludge 0.1 to 5 wt % of a cationic paper consolidating agent, 0.1 to 5 wt % of a non-ionic and/or anionic paper consolidating and/or sizing agent, with respect to the weight of fillers. The cationic consolidating agent is used in such an amount, with respect to the anionic consolidating and/or sizing agents, that the finely-ground fillers have a cationic charge. Also disclosed is the use of the thus obtained aqueous sludges of finely-ground fillers for producing filler-containing paper, cardboard and/or paperboard by adding the aqueous sludges to a paper pulp and by draining the paper pulp.
