Summary: | A process for synthesizing a colorless and transparent diamond crystal which is useful as the material of ornaments and optical parts economically by the temperature difference method, characterized by using at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, Ni, Mn and Cr as the solvent for crystal growth, provided that it is necessary to use at least two metals when Fe is used, and using at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Al, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta as the nitrogen getter for removing nitrogen present in the solvent in an amount of 0.5 to 7 wt% based on the total amount of the solvent, provided that this amount should be 2 wt% or less when Al is used alone. |
