Summary:A stack 1 of heating plates for regenerative heat exchangers is proposed which consists of a multiplicity of superimposed plates 2 which leave flow ducts 4 free between them and have at least in part a profiled structure 3, e.g. embossments, and bear a coating, for example an enamel layer, serving as surface protection. This stack 1 of heating plates is characterised in this case by a profiled structure 3 of the plates 2 in which at least the rim edges of the respectively adjacent directly superimposed plates 2 and 2a, 2b extend at all points at a minimum spacing 8 from one another or are aligned with respect to one another free from contact. The rim edges of the plates 2 and, if necessary, the material accumulations of the coating that occur at the rim edges as a consequence of production are protected in this way against flaking.
