Summary: | An integrated head/flexure/conductor structure (20) for the reading and writing of information with respect to a relatively moving medium (32), such as a disk or drum, and a method for manufacturing the same. The proposed structure (20) takes the form of a micro-dimension, elongate, dielectric flexure body (34), and embedded within such body both magnetic read/write pole structure (22; 44, 46), and electrical coil and conductor structure (36, 38, 40, 42; 56) operatively associated with the pole structure (22; 44, 46). The flexure body (34) and the embedded constituents are formed on an atom-by-atom basis utilizing one or more conventional material-deposition processes. The method proposed by the invention includes orthogonal-plane processing steps that facilitate formation of the magnetic pole structure (22; 44, 46) in a way enhancing dimensional control. In addition, the method of the invention involves steps utilizing etchable wall-like stripes (66), and a commonly etchable base layer (64), which together define three sides of the structure of the invention during formation thereof, etching of which stripes (66) and layer (64) greatly facilitates separation and release of finally completed units as free individuals. |
