Summary:The invention relates to a cooling system for a supercharged internal combustion engine (5) with a high-temperature and a low-temperature circuit, in which system two charge-air coolers, through which coolants at different temperatures flow, for cooling the charge air in two stages are provided. The high-temperature circuit comprises a main branch containing the internal combustion engine (5) and a high-temperature aftercooler (3) connected in series therewith. To keep down the total quantity of coolant and achieve a high degree of heat interchange while keeping the pipe configuration simple, the quantity of coolant flowing out of the secondary circuit is added to a flow of coolant leading to the internal combustion engine (5), and the entire flow of coolant flowing out of the internal combustion engine (5) is then passed to the high-temperature aftercooler (3). The quantity of coolant required in the secondary branch is diverted from the flow of coolant flowing to the internal combustion engine (5), which flows out of the high-temperature aftercooler (3) and to which quantities of coolant flowing out of the high-temperature charge-air cooler (1) and of the low-temperature charge-air cooler (22) may be added. The low-temperature circuit comprises a low-temperature aftercooler (4) with a low-temperature charge-air cooler (2) connected in series.
