Summary: | The plating of a metal sheet made from a stainless steel, the temperature for dissolving the carbides of which is less than 1000 DEG C, is produced on a metal sheet made from armour steel and the plated metal sheet obtained is quenched so that the Brinell hardness of the armour steel lies between 250 and 700 BH. The plating may be produced by co-rolling, explosion plating or explosion plating followed by re-rolling. Annealing may be performed at a temperature between 200 and 600 DEG C on the plated and quenched metal sheet. The quench is preferably carried out on an oil-quenching machine under a press. The armouring obtained includes a stainless covering layer free of carbide precipitates at the grain boundaries. It is possible to produce containers, resistant to projectiles and used for storing corrosive liquid products, from the stainless armouring according to the invention. |
