Summary: | An apparatus for driving photoelectric element arrays (PEA1, PEA2), based on successive pixel data, each array having an element group formed by aligning photoelectric elements (LED11, LED12, LED21, LED22), adjacent elements being separated from each other by a predetermined gap. The apparatus has a memory (SR) for successively stores the same number of the data as that of the elements in the group with respect to the number of the arrays and for outputting the stored data when each storage operation is completed and a driver (SU1, SU2) for generating drive signals corresponding to the outputted data and for applying each of the drive signals to respective elements in such a manner that the outputted data are applied to the respective elements simultaneously in each array and are applied to the respective elements by a predetermined timing among the arrays. The arrays are provided such that they are arranged so that respective alignment directions of the elements in the arrays are made parallel to each other, adjacent arrays are separated from each other by a gap corresponding to the predetermined gap multiplied by an integral number, and one of the groups in the adjacent arrays is displaced to left or right on the alignment direction against the other group, with respect to corresponding elements in the adjacent arrays. |
