Summary: | Gaseous ozone is formed by vaporising a stream of liquid oxygen in a heat exchange coil and passing it through an ozonator 34 in which it is subjected to a silent electrical discharge. The oxygen enters the ozonator 34 at a temperature below ambient. This sub-ambient temperature is created by evaporating liquid oxygen in the stream of oxygen in a chamber 24 upstream of the ozonator 34. Operating the ozonator 34 in such a way enhances the yield of ozone. |
